West Ham targets signing Liverpool goalkeeper for £20 million

West Ham is on the hunt for a new goalkeeper and is considering signing Caoimhín Kelleher from Liverpool. After Graham Potter chose Alphonse Areola as the main goalkeeper, he seems dissatisfied with the performance of the 32-year-old French shot-stopper, who has managed just three clean sheets in 20 Premier League matches this season.

West Ham is keen on signing Kelleher and is ready to negotiate with Liverpool. According to The Sun, the club is interested in the 26-year-old goalkeeper and is willing to offer around £20 million for him. Despite this, the clubs are discussing the possibility of signing Kelleher on loan terms, but Liverpool is eager to sell him on a permanent basis.

Kelleher has already proven his worth at Liverpool, where, despite being a backup goalkeeper, he continues to deliver high-level performances, especially in matches when Alisson was injured. This season, he has played in 10 matches and kept 4 clean sheets, which is more than Areola in the same number of games.

However, signing a new goalkeeper will not solve all the team’s problems. West Ham also needs to strengthen their defense to reduce the number of shots on their goal. If the club makes the right transfers, this could mark the beginning of a positive phase in the season for West Ham.
