Real Salt Lake in Talks to Sign Slovakia’s Boženík Amid Striker Search

Real Salt Lake are in advanced talks to sign Slovak international striker Róbert Boženík from Boavista, according to GIVEMESPORT. A few final details still need to be ironed out, but sources indicate discussions have been ongoing for some time. If finalized, Boženík would be signed as a designated player, though RSL are exploring the possibility of buying down his contract later.

Boženík, 25, has earned 48 caps for Slovakia. He has tallied 19 goals and four assists across his last three seasons in Portugal’s top flight, and this year has contributed four goals in 2,351 minutes. The center forward has prior experience in multiple European leagues, including stints with Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie and Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany’s second division. He first made his name with MSK Zilina in Slovakia.

RSL have been actively searching for a center forward since trading Chicho Arango to the San Jose Earthquakes earlier this year. An attempted signing of Elias Manoel from the New York Red Bulls fell through when the player failed to report to preseason and was subsequently sent to Brazil.

Despite a sluggish start to the 2025 campaign, Real Salt Lake have recovered to secure nine points in seven matches. With only seven goals scored, they are seeking more firepower in attack. The potential signing of Boženík would address that need, though sources add the club is pursuing additional options to bring in one or two more forwards if necessary.
