Jorge Jesus is set to become the new head coach of the Brazilian national team, according to TyC Sports. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is reportedly ready to pay his release clause from Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, estimated at around €2.5 million, to have him in place before the June 3 World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
While the official announcement is expected in May, the timing depends on Al Hilal’s ongoing campaigns in both the Saudi Pro League and the AFC Champions League. The agreement with Jesus would run through the 2026 World Cup, as Brazil aims to restore stability after a period of managerial turnover following Tite’s exit.
Jesus is no stranger to Brazilian football. In 2019, he led Flamengo to a Copa Libertadores title, a Brazilian league championship, and a Club World Cup final against Liverpool. That track record, coupled with his extensive international experience, gave him the edge over other candidates such as Abel Ferreira, José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and Filipe Luis.
His appointment comes after a turbulent spell for the Seleção, which has seen three different managers in just over a year. Neither Ramón Menezes, Fernando Diniz nor Dorival Júnior managed to establish a lasting project. With Jorge Jesus at the helm, the CBF is banking on a seasoned leader with tactical acumen and regional familiarity to guide Brazil toward success in 2026.
