Paulo Dybala has once again sparked excitement among Boca Juniors fans by expressing his desire to play in Argentina, though he admits it remains uncertain whether it will ever happen. In an interview with the YouTube channel Los Edul, the Roma forward spoke about his affection for Boca, revealing that his teammate Leandro Paredes is even trying to take him to a Club World Cup match to support the team. According to Dybala, his passion for Boca was inherited from his father, a devoted fan, despite his two older brothers supporting Independiente and River Plate.
“Sometimes I see photos of myself as a kid, the things Lea says, the messages from fans… It’s nice because I’ve never actually gone to see Boca live,” said Dybala, who also spoke fondly of Instituto, the club where he began his professional career in Argentina’s second division. While speculation continues about a potential return, the player was clear that he doesn’t know if he’ll ever feature in Argentina’s top flight.
Dybala isn’t the only Roma player with ties to Boca. Midfielder Leandro Paredes came close to returning to his boyhood club in the last transfer window. Though the move didn’t happen, he renewed with Roma including a clause that allows him to join Boca for €3.5 million through December 2026. Dybala’s wife, Oriana Sabatini, even revealed that Paredes has “planted the idea” of both of them joining the club—though she admitted it might cause tension since her family are River Plate fans.
